Small Business Saturday, celebrated its 10th year on November 30, 2019 and Love the Harrisonville Square celebrated our first year as a designated Neighborhood Champion!
We joined with other main street organizations across the country by handing out Shop Small tote bags and promoting the businesses within the Square footprint. An estimated 100 bags, including information on some of the local businesses, were distributed during the event.
Small Business Saturday, is held annually on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. It encourages shoppers to spend and support local businesses as they begin their holiday season, but also year round.
Over the past 10 years of the shopping holiday, American Express, who sponsors the program, estimates that Small Business Saturday spending has now reached $103 billion since the day began. Additionally, approximately $0.67 of every dollar spend at a local business has been shown to stay withing the local economy.
We are already looking forward to next year and expanding on the event!
