A Little Cleaning & Caring

The Design Committee for Love the Harrisonville Square celebrated Memorial Day by cleaning up Marler, Wirt, Allen Park and adding some new flowers to the planters.

The park is located on the corner of Independence and Mechanic streets.
This park was constructed in memory of police officers Donald Marler and Frances (Frank) Wirt and a private citizen, Orville Allen, who lost their lives in an incident on the square April 21, 1972.

The park contains a memorial marker, a fountain which has become a trademark of Harrisonville, the Elks’ memorial flag pole, park benches, flower beds, and shrubbery. Throughout the year events such as the Elks’ Flag Day are held at this park.
